Seine Nord Europe Canal : An economic development booster.

The Seine Nord Europe Canal will be built between Paris-Compiègne and Cambrai for a total investment of 3 billion Euros. More than 20 million tons of cargo will be moved on this canal each year. The studies showed also the interest of this canal for the regional development. Barges can distribute all ports along the canal. The implementation of new industrial and logistic activities on the business parks around the local ports will be easier as market studies confirmed. It will be good for local employment and sustainable development in a region with high unemployement rate.
Air : Low Cost airlines from emergent countries.

In a market study, EUROTRANS Consultants has identified the emergence of Eastern Countries operators such as Wizzair from Beauvais to Poland, Lituania and Hungary, Smart Wings from CDG to Prague, Skyeurope from Orly to Slovenia, and Blue Air from Lyons to Rumania. Atlas Blue is growing towards Morocco. These new services are in addition of strong British, German, Scandinavian and Italian Low-Cost Airline Services in Europe. French are no more on the low-cost market since the Flywest collapse.
Air : Airport handling for airport competitiveness.

Air traffic is subject to an increase in security and fuel cost, a stagnation in demand and an agressive competition from land transportation. The control of airports charges is important for launching new airlines… which stresses the importance of a good handling management. An Eurotrans organisation audit is a good start to improve the airport handling has seen in French airports.

Sustainable Development: First step of an evaluation method for the impact of logistic.

EUROTRANS has produced for ADEME/Predit3 a report about the socioeconomic and environmental impact of the logistic specializations in the regions. It emphasizes the local action on the sustainable development and adapts the methods of evaluation for ports projects with a comparative analysis of strategies and real estates in the regions. Logistics generates a major part of implantations and cannot be disregarded on the pretext that its impact on the sustainable development would be weaker than the one of an industry operating outside Europe.

Local Development: An inland port for an industrial plant regeneration.

The regeneration of industrial plant is a major component of local development. In an oversized market with a lot of available economic spaces, the quality of rail and maritime infrastructure provided by these old industrial sites is a determinant to manage this reconversion. In North of France, EUROTRANS has identified a strong demand for a multimodal service.

Management : Risk Management as a major part of business strategy.
Risk Management (financials, naturals, humans, information, technologies, strategic…) is a major stake for companies in the context of globalization. This applies to all sectors. It is a new transversal method to improve companies management and profitability. EUROTRANS Consultants offers now this new audit of risk management as well as quality, logistics and operation.

Massive Maritime Merger.

After the acquisition of P&O Nedlloyd, A.P Moeller-Maersk fleet will reach 500 ships & 35 000 employees. (Les Échos 30/06/05). EUROTRANS estimates that Maersk Sealand P&0 Nedllyod world market share of containers transport will exceed 20% with monopole destination to South Africa. CMA CGM is still negociating for the purchase of Bolloré subsidiaries Delmas, Otal, & Linea Setramar. AP Moeller's subsidiary Norfolk signed a letter of intent for purchasing Norse Merchant Ferries and her 9 ships. T. A. du 24/6/05.
  Harbour terminal management in France.

Harbour terminal management has become one of the most important topics recently. In France, it helps managers setting the organization at the terminals and the harmony between crane drivers and dockers. The evolution of public/private reports become a priiority for the UNIM. NPI 02/05; JMM 06/05.
New Nord - Pas de Calais Ports regional authority.

During the session of june 23rd 2005, the Regional Council has tendered for the ownership of both Boulogne/Mer & Calais ports, which still belong to the French government. As from January 1st 2007, both ports will be transferred to a public body shared as follows: 50% owned by the Region, 30% by the Department & 20% by the Districts. JMM june 2005.
  Rail operators : Railfreight recovering.

European Bulls includes 5 operators Rail4Chem (D), LTE (A), Cosma Rail (E), Ferrovie Nord Cargo (I) & Viamont (CZ) to ensure direct non-stop transport. Rail Link, a subsidiary of CMA CGM launched a shuttle between Marseille & KTL Ludwigshafen (North Med Schuttle), an analysis already brought into attention by EUROTRANS in their Eurocorridors studies. Note that Connex has launched its first private cargo train on 13/6/05 for lime between Lorraine & Germany.
Major logistic implementations in Delta3 distribution park.
After the implementation of the Yamaha logistic center, the Delta3 trimodal dry port will get the new logistic centers of Leroy Merlin and the Fnac's subsidiary Eveil et Jeux (toddler toys & games). The famous set of implantations should create one thousand jobs. In total, 139 000 m² of logistic buildings will be dedicated for these projects. Positive economic feasibility studies led by EUROTRANS Consultants are now confirmed by reality. Les Echos 28/06/05.
